Project Overview
This project was carried out for a large, DAX-listed energy corporation in Germany operating in a highly regulated, business-critical environment.
I worked as a Senior Azure Engineer (Platform & DevOps), focusing on the migration, platform evolution, and CI/CD automation of a core web platform used in daily operational processes.
The focus of the project was stability, scalability, security, and long-term maintainability rather than rapid feature delivery.
Responsibilities & Contributions
- Migration and further development of existing applications into an Azure-based platform
- Design and operation of CI/CD and DevOps structures to stabilize software delivery
- Automation of deployments and infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep)
- Continuous optimization of performance, security, and operational reliability
- Close collaboration with development and business teams in a regulated enterprise environment
- Backend development using C# and .NET to support platform integration and automation
- Active participation in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making
- Ensuring security, quality, and operational requirements in production cloud environments
Technical Focus
The project required a strong balance between new cloud-native approaches and existing enterprise constraints.
Key technical challenges included:
- Ensuring zero disruption to ongoing business operations during cloud migration
- Establishing reliable deployment pipelines for a system with strict quality requirements
- Maintaining high code quality in a long-running codebase
- Aligning modern cloud practices with enterprise governance and compliance rules
Built With
Outcome & Impact
- Successful modernization and cloud integration of a mission-critical enterprise system
- Improved deployment reliability and release confidence through CI/CD automation
- Increased system stability and maintainability
- Clear separation of responsibilities between application, infrastructure, and deployment layers
- A scalable foundation for future extensions and long-term operation
